The Library Summer Programming is set to begin. This year, the theme is reading rocks and it is being put on by David Rodrigues.
“We have two programs, the Summer Reading Program and the one on one tutoring,” said Virginia Charron, Head Librarian.
The programs run from July 12th to August 27th for 7 weeks of summer activities. The summer reading program is divided into two parts. The first is for ages 6 and up. They meet through out the week from 2 to 3:30 in the afternoon. The other program is for ages 3 to 5. They meet on Monday mornings from 10:30 - 11:15
The youth gather for an hour and a half to talk about the books they read, then they get a stamp and a literacy based activity, game or craft. At the end of the summer, if the kids fill their passport, they get a medal.
In addition, there is a one on one reading tutorial for kids and adults ages 6 and up. These tutorials are 40 minute sessions and they can be booked one at a time or multiple.
The reading passport the youth have to fill out.
