CONTRIBUTION · 24th May 2010
Evan Jennings
The game started off very quickly with the first goal at 0:59 being scored by Montreal's Brian Gionta with a quick snap shot through the legs of Philidelphia goalie Michael Leighton.

The momentum however though did not last. On a one-on-one break-away Flyers Captain Mike Richards raced Roman Hamrlik for the puck when Habs Goalie Jaroslav Halak skated out and accidentily checked down his own player. Richards caught his balance and easily popped in an empty netter to tie the game 1-1. This is the biggest "What If" of the game. It lead to the change in momentum for the flyers.

In the second period, Flyer Arron Asham knifed one straight by Halak, and Jeff Carter followed suit a minute and twenty-four seconds later.

After these two goals, the second period started to see a slump in Montreal, as their passes started to get picked off, and powerplay after powerplay was killed.

Third period finally started and it seemed there is no stopping the Flyers. The Phili fans began to sing Ole Ole Ole, when all of a sudden Scott Gomez got his first goal since the first game against Washington. Needless to say, all fans immediatly stopped singing.

At 9:12 in the third, Flyers 6'7 Giant Chris Pronger recieved a double minor for High Sticking Montreal rookie PK Subban and drawing blood. With a four minute powerplay the Canadiens began a full all-out pressure on the Flyers, but all for naught.

Finally in a last desperate attempt to tie up the game and force overtime, Halak was pulled to put an extra man on the ice. With only thirty seconds left the Flyers got the puck down in the Montreal end. All the Canadiens jumped desperately in front of the puck to stop it but to no avail. Carter once again snapped the puck up to pop in his second and the final goal of the game.

End score is 4-2 with the Philiadelphia Flyers winning the series versus the Montreal Canadiens 4-1.

The Flyers will be playing the Chicago Blackshawks in the Stanley Cup Finals. This will be the First Time they will play in the finals since 1997 when they lost to the Detroit Red Wings. The last time the Flyers had won the cup was in 1975 versus the Buffalo Sabres. The first game of the Stanley Cup Playoff Finals will be on Saturday at 5:00pm. You can watch it by clicking HERE on game day.

Now I ask you this.
What if Halak hadn't left his net and let in that first period goal for Philiadelphia?
