Kitimat City Council meets tonight, Monday, April 19th for the first regular meeting of the new schedule. Back in November 2009,
it was brought to the attention of Kitimat City Council: Citywest would be merging Channel 10 in Kitimat with Channel 10 in Terrace. This would cause Kitimat and Terrace City Council’s to conflict for the same time slot.
After discussing solutions, it was decided to move the regular meetings of Council from the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month to the 1st and the 3rd Mondays of the month. This was voted on and carried during the early months of 2010. As there was a meeting on the 12th of April, there is not much on the agenda this week.
There is one presentation, Jose Salema who wishes to open a food cart, Dogz Gone Wild, next to the Tamitik Areana. However, as current policies prevent this, he is seeking Council’s intervention.
Under bylaws, the Backyard Firepits and Cardboard ban receive their final adoption and second reading respectively. Reports cover both Dogz Gone Wild and the potential selling of a District-owned lot to Western Coating’s Limited.
Communications include a request to support the reform of alcoholic beverages to reduce addictions, and a request for emergency funding from the Mount Elizabeth Theatre for their lighting board. Then comes new business before Council goes In Camera.
