REPORTING · 17th April 2010
Kitimat City Council is gathering for a Special Meeting today at noon at the City Centre Offices after Councillor Richard McLaren’s notice of motion at last Monday’s City Council Meeting.
“It’s to finalize the Financial Plan. The part they are going to be focusing on is their policies and objectives which are a part of the Financial Plan. So once they’ve decided that, it’s going to go forward to a meeting where the public will be invited to make comment on the Financial Plan,” said Community Clerk, Walter McLellen.
In order to do these further amendments on the Financial Plan, the 3rd reading of the budget has to be rescinded by Council. The 26th of April has been proposed as the date for the Public Consultation and the documents they are preparing is for this date. There will be no opportunity for the public input today.
Once the 3rd reading has been rescinded, City Council plans to review the Financial Plan and schedule, review the Financial Plan and the recommendations, debate the revised Financial Plan and make the desired changes.
