COMMENTARY · 14th April 2010
Here it is, by popular demand, the latest Gerry Hummel Cartoon. This comes from the Council Budget Discussions and Mayor Joanne Monaghan’s now imfamous radio comment to the CBC.
During the Budget Process, Councillor Mario Feldhoff made a motion to put money aside to paint Haisla Bridge in case they have to paint the bridge in 2012. Councillor Bob Corless was opposed because they are trying to get another level of government to take over Haisla Boulevard.
Municipal Manager Trafford Hall reminded the Council that if the bridge wasn’t taken over, the Council will have to pay for it. He doubted that the grants from last year, which Council applied for, will be repeated.
Councillor Randy Halyk suggested passing the bridge on to some of the graffiti artists for painting, while Feldhoff reminded Council this was a necessary project. The bridge was last painted in 1987.
The motion was called and failed.
Can't make out the cartoon, it's attached below.
