Alcan has won the WHL Cup after a 6-3 championship final against the Kitimat All Stars.
Alcan made their way to the Cup after winning 3 times and tying twice through a 5 game round-robin to determine seeding for the semi-finals. There, they drew DCH Industries who they defeated 6-4 to earn their berth in the final.
The Kitimat All Stars boasted the league's best record through the Round Robin, going 4-1-0 to draw the Outlaws in the semi-finals. They defeated the Outlaws by a matching score of 6-4 and the stage was set for the final.
It was a closely played game with Alcan holding a 4-2 lead late in the 3rd before Brian Apps of the All Stars closed the gap to 4-3 with about five minutes left. In desperation, the All Stars pulled the goaltender for the extra attacker but gave up an empty net goal. Mike Tormene then counted once more on a breakaway for Alcan in the dying seconds to make the final score 6-3.
