REPORTING · 22nd February 2010
Walter McFarlane
City Council looks like it’s going to be a loooooooooooooong (sic) meeting tonight, Monday, Feb 22nd.  Presentations are scheduled to run from the start of the meeting until 10:00 and beyond.

Margaret Sanou is speaking about Kitimat as a retirement community while Dr. Van Wyk wishes to speak about ambulance services.  From there, Council goes into budget presentations from Community Groups.  The following groups are scheduled:

Victim Services, RCMP, Museum, Kitimat Arts for Youth, Mount Elizabeth Theatre, Kitimat Understanding the Environment, Kitimat Public Library, Kitimat Flying Club, Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club and Kitimat Emergency Plan.

When these finish, Yvonne Lee will address Council from the Looking for Love Animal Shelter.

From there, Council goes into bylaws, the intro to the Flat Tax Amendment Bylaw and the Council Procedure Amendment Bylaw.  Bylaws will be followed by three reports, one on Council remuneration, one from the skating club and a leisure access policy for the economically challenged.

Council also has two communications: one from the Chamber of Commerce and one from BC Ferries.  All this and new business at tonight's city Council meeting!
