REPORTING · 7th February 2010
During December 2009, we at the Kitimat Daily took a look at the past year and realized that there were several stories we wished to cover but, due to time constraints, were unable to publish. Many of these events took place at City Council.
The second and forth Monday of the month is the Regular Meeting of City Council while the remaining Mondays are usually Committee of the Whole Meetings. The meetings usually start at 7:30 pm and vary in length from 30 minutes to two hours with the longest we have seen lasting four hours.
Think of them what you will, but the Council Meetings are a clearing house for up coming events, presentations about what is happening in the community, people speaking their mind about politics and the occasional slap stick.
We write the article while the meeting takes place. On the plus side, all of the topics appear in the article. On the downside, the article is not as detailed as other articles on the site although follow up articles will have more detail to them.
In short, although they are long, they are there so that nothing important gets missed.
