REPORTING · 31st January 2010
Walter McFarlane
At 6:00 PM in Ottawa, people gathered around the cenotaph to hold a prayer vigil for Canada’s Soldiers Abroad and for their family members at home. At 3:00 PM in Kitimat, members of Prayer Canada gathered in the City Centre Mall for a vigil to pray as well.

“We’re going to have a prayer vigil, the fourth prayer vigil and we are praying for our forces in Afghanistan,” said Lesley Williams, who organized the event. “We would like to bring people together to be able to focus on the needs of our forces. It is not political in any way, they are put in that position because they have chosen to go there.”

Prayer Canada meets on Tuesdays from 12 to 1 to pray. Right now, their primary focus is the City of Kitimat due to the announced closure of Eurocan.
