The 42nd Annual Aluminium City Bonspiel has come to a close. The final games have been played, awards have been handed out and the winners have been announced.

The finals began around 1:30 as 8 teams in four divisions took to the ice for their final game. Division A was the first to finish between Team Evans from Terrace and Team Bulleid from Terrace. The final Score at the end of 6 ends was 11-1 for Evans making the team winners 2 years running.

B Division ended next between Team Muzylowki from Kitimat and Team Parker from Smithers. The final score was 7-0 for Parker and also ended after 6 ends. With the two top games over so quickly, the spectators turned to C and D divisions which were still taking place.

D Division finished next after 8 ends between Sallenback from Terrace and deGoeij from Kitimat. The final score was 8-6 in favour of deGoeij.

C Division was the final game to end after 8 ends between Boguski and Venman, both from Kitimat. The final throw of the tournament was a heart breaker for team Boguski who was winning with a strong lead throughout the final game. The final rock knocked their last rock out of the game and gave Team Venman enough points to win the Division 8-6.

“We got down in the game early, their skip, Jim Boguski got some really fantastic shots. […] We got behind… a lot. […] We were four down and we needed 4 to win and 3 to tie and we managed to squeeze out the win. […] Never give up. You never know what could happen,” said Ron Venman, skip of the Venman team.

With the tournament over, the trophies, plaques and prizes were awarded to each team.
Allen Parker, Trever Sandbeig, Ron Laradat and Gord Muro are awarded the B Division prizes.
