UPDATED AT MIDNIGHT JAN 15th
The Mount Elizabeth Drama 9/10 Class held their final exam Friday, January 15th at 8 pm at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre. They are putting on The Hysterical History of Troy written by D. M. Bocaz-Larson.
“The Play is a comedy about the Trojan War. […] It is a Junior Play (grade 9/10 split class) and therefore will be a short 1hr play and this will be their final exam. Because it is a junior play the budget is not the typical $10-20,000 we are used to seeing for the community for the Senior Musical Theatre plays,” said Drama Teacher Vanessa Combden.
Although it is not Musical Theatre, it has 3 songs in it and plenty of audience participation. The stars of the play include Jessica Blair as Helen, Nathan Closter as Paris, Amanda Boubier as Achilles, Mackenzie MacDonald as Odysseus and David Martin as Hector.
The price of entry is a five dollar donation. “The first $100 raised will be used to make a plaque to put on one of the Theatre seats in memory of Jacob Jones (Rick Jones' son who died over the summer). Any extra money raised, Rick will be deciding on what to do with it,
“I am very proud of my students for stepping out of their comfort zone and not just doing a final exam play for the school which is of optional attendance. They wanted to do a play for Kitimat for the sole reason that they respect Rick Jones so much. They wanted to do something special for him; The Plaque for his son in the theatre,” said Combden.
Hera, played by Elyse Gairdner, Athena played by Alysse Rice, Apollo played by Jacob Bilash and Zeus Daniel Harness, gather onstage to discuss the Trojen War
