Kitimat City Council is off to a strong start for 2010 with one of the longest agendas that they have had in some time. If you are interested in the current attempt to save Eurocan, this is not a meeting to miss. The Agenda is out and here is what is on it.
The meeting starts off with long service presentations and the monthly update from Staff Sergent Steve Corp. Stephenie Howell and Cheryl Rumley have a final report on Photovoice Research, Violence aganst Woman and Housing Issues.
Mary Murphy, President of CEP is presenting to council on the Eurocan Industry Viabilty Group, while Barry Pankhurst, Chair of the School Board is speaking on the topic of the Eurocan recreation subsidy. Finally, Elrich Fussl of Pytrade Canada Inc. is returning to council via conference call.
In reports, Trafford Hall is presenting a report on 2010 job opportunities for unemployed resource workers funded by the Federal and Provincial Government. There is a memo on SAFER home Standards Society requesting support, and report for a Town Hall Forum concerning Marine Occupations and Safe Shipping. The meeting also introduces preparations for the Municipal Budget for 2010 and the statement of accounts for December. Finally, there are details on the MOU with Pytrade Canada for a Biomass and Greenhouse/Aquaphonics project for Kitimat.
