Alumni and Oldtimers’ All Stars December 19
Although the Kitimat Ice Demons have no regular CIHL games scheduled through the Christmas season, fans of the team will be able to enjoy some great local hockey at Tamitik Arena on Saturday night, December 19 at 7.30 p.m. when the leading team in the league takes on a new opponent – a team of Demons’ Alumni and Kitimat Oldtimers’ All Stars. Warm-up will be at 7.00 p.m.
Admission to the fun game will be by cash donation, as the Demons are seeking to build up their bank account for another run at the Coy Cup provincial senior hockey championship – this year the 2010 championship scheduled to take place in March in Powell River.
The Demons’ younger regulars will be taking on team with a number of familiar names to the hockey fans in Kitimat, including two original Ice Demons, two former coaches and some other well known names in hockey in Kitimat over the past several years.
Former Demons coaches Mike Steponavicius, Nelson Almeida and Mark Zielinski will lace up for the opposition, along with former star players, Craig Hewitson (now a Demons coach), Troy Butler, a former Allan Cup winner, and Trent Bossence, a former Demons power forward and veteran of three Coy Cup winning teams, as well as former Demons’ goaltender and current trainer, Rick Taylor.
The Ice Demons can’t expect an easy game when you look at some of the other names on the Alumni/All Stars team – Lee Marleau, Paul DeJong, Ron Egan, Patrice Bergeron, Sean O’Neill, Scott Merkley, Mike Gairdner, Steve Revell, Vince Muldoe, Ron Wakita, and Mike Whelan. The Oldtimers All-Stars lineup may not be completed until game time and other players could be added....but fans can look forward to a fast-skating intense and fun hockey game. Coaching the Alumni/Old Timers’ All Stars will be former Demons trainer, Darrell Lowes and trainer will be Brad Loran.
So put this game on your Christmas calendar...
